Art Patron Edition 2021
In 2021, Montblanc chose to highlight one of the greatest patrons in the history of art: Napoleon Bonaparte through exceptional writing instruments.
The Montblanc Patron of Art limited editions bring these great figures to life with original writing tools and accessories. During his reign from 1804 to 1814, Napoleon contributed to the beauty of Parisian architecture. The Napoleonic era is the era of French craftsmanship. Besides architecture, other forms of art flourished under his power: painting, sculpture, and decorative arts. Napoleon was passionate about art.
The design of this series is inspired by the neoclassical style. The Montblanc Edition Napoleon Bonaparte is limited to 4,810 pieces. This writing instrument is famous for its elegant design and the blue lacquer that runs through the entire body and cap of the pen. This intense blue refers to Napoleon's uniform and the throne room of the Château de Fontainebleau. This pen is fully decorated with bees, and the lacquer is finely engraved with the symbol of immortality. The dome of the cap is engraved with laurel crowns and eagles to represent the emperor's coronation. The sword-shaped clip is engraved with the initial "N" as well as a red stone reminiscent of the ring of his wife Josephine. Finally, the 18-carat gold nib handcrafted shows the portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte and his iconic bicorne. The limited edition 888 is also available.
This extraordinary instrument is made of platinum, precious blue lacquer, and 18-carat perforated gold. The clip is engraved with red garnet. The Montblanc logo is entirely made of mother-of-pearl and crowns this piece.
