Victor Hugo
Victor Marie Hugo (1802 - 1885) was a French novelist, poet, and playwright of the Romantic movement. He is considered one of the greatest and most well-known French writers. He is famous for his works Les Misérables (1862) and Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame) (1831). In 1841, Hugo was elected to the Académie française, consolidating his position in the world of French arts and letters. Although mainly known for his novels, Victor Hugo also produced many poems such as Les Contemplations and La Légende des siècles, and he also created more than 4,000 drawings during his lifetime.
