The Masters of Art collection from Montblanc is a celebration of the timeless contribution of the greatest artists to the quest for artistic perfection. This collection pays tribute to Gustav Klimt, one of the greatest artists of Art Nouveau and Symbolism, and a pioneer of artistic individuality.

The Masters of Art collection was created to honor the artists whose vision helped shape various artistic movements. The first tribute was paid to Vincent van Gogh, one of the most popular painters of the late 19th century, recognized for his visionary ideas that are now considered precursors to modernism. The Tribute to Gustav Klimt inkwell is a continuation of this tradition. It celebrates the artist who played a prominent role in the Vienna Secession movement.

The design of this inkwell is inspired by Japanese art and culture, a passion of Klimt, combined with details from the architecture of the Vienna Secession. The vibrant green used on the cone is a dominant and powerful color in Art Nouveau. It symbolizes spring and the season of new beginnings, ideas that greatly influenced the Secessionists who believed that art should be forward-looking and progressive.

The inkwell also features other distinctive characteristics. For example, the inlay “GK” represents the emblematic monogram of Gustav Klimt, taken from the catalogue of the 14th Vienna Secession exhibition (1902). Additionally, on the clip, the slightly curved lines ending in three spirals are inspired by the ornament of the forged metal frame of Klimt's universally renowned painting Pallas Athene (Pallas Athena).
