In the thrilling history of rock music, few names have shone with as much consistency as that of Queen. With a career spanning over five decades, the band is one of the greatest successes of all time. During this period, Queen embodied the power of musical creativity, and most of their songs remained at the top of the charts for weeks. They created a sort of musical universe of their own, composed of a combination of hard rock, glam rock, pop, funk, and opera, breaking down the boundaries between genres. Montblanc dedicates its Great Characters Homage to Queen Limited Edition 1975 to these rock icons, inspired by the album A Night At The Opera. Black and white. No other color combination describes such a striking contrast, and none could better symbolize the extent of Queen's musical universe. For a time, The Black and the White was even considered as the title of their second studio album and was the motto of Freddie Mercury's spectacular birthday party eleven years later. The Limited Edition 1975 also appears in this contrasting form. The band's fourth studio album, however, surpassed everything that had been done before and is considered the most elaborately produced album of the 20th century. The four artists who participated in it made history: Freddie Mercury, the charismatic singer whose voice spans several octaves and is characterized by a rich vibrato; Brian May, the virtuoso guitarist with his incomparable electric guitar sound; John Deacon, the highly creative bassist; and Roger Taylor, the rhythmic heart of the band. In homage to these four exceptional musicians, their stylized portraits are immortalized on the black cap of the writing instrument, inspired by the iconic covers of the albums Queen II and Hot Space. The album A Night at the Opera, and in particular its flagship track Bohemian Rhapsody, illustrates Freddie Mercury's dream of creating an album of epic proportions. The extravagant six-minute single arrangement combines piano ballads, opera, and rock, interspersed with successive layers of lyrical voices and eccentric references to characters such as Galileo or Scaramouche, a figure of the Commedia dell'Arte. Freddie Mercury himself, known for his flamboyant stage costumes, often slipped into the skin of another Commedia dell'Arte character, Harlequin. His famous form-fitting leotard with black and white diamond patterns emphasized his unconventional stage persona and inspired the rhombic design of the body. This edition also pays tribute to Brian May and his incredible guitar playing, which played such an important role in the album's sound, by giving the platinum-plated cone its distinctive appearance. This recalls the volume and tone control knobs of Brian May's famous electric guitar. The album's name is engraved on the cone ring: A Night at the Opera. The year of its release, 1975, inspired the decision to limit the edition to 1975 fountain pens and 1975 rollerballs. The crown worn by Mercury during the final performance of God Save The Queen inspired the silhouette of the limited edition cap and at the same time serves as a metaphor for the majestic character of the band and its musical legacy. The platinum-plated clip is designed to resemble a microphone stand, in reference to one of the features of Freddie's live performances. Mercury.
