In the thrilling history of rock music, few names have shone with as much consistency as Queen. With a career spanning over five decades, the band is one of the greatest successes of all time. During this period, Queen embodied the power of musical creativity, and most of their songs stayed at the top of the charts for weeks. They created a kind of musical universe of their own, composed of a combination of hard rock, glam rock, pop, funk, and opera, breaking down the boundaries between genres. In tribute to Queen's very last album, the titles of three of its songs adorn the skeletonized piece in solid white gold Au 750/1000 on the cap: Mother Love, Made In Heaven, and Too Much Love Will Kill You. The grooves on the contrasting blue lacquer below reflect exactly the same grooves as those of the album Made in Heaven. The color progression from dark blue to light blue, then back to dark blue, recalls the color palette of the album cover. In creating their albums, the four band members pushed the artistic and technical boundaries of the recording studio. But seeing the band in concert was something else entirely. Their sensational concerts – they gave more than 700 concerts between 1970 and 1986 – were a show in their own right that achieved legendary status. Freddie Mercury himself, known for his flamboyant stage costumes, often slipped into the role of a character from the Commedia dell'Arte, Harlequin. His famous tight-fitting black and white diamond-patterned suit emphasized his unconventional stage persona. The Great Characters Homage to Queen Limited Edition 30 takes up this rhombic pattern for the pen's body, skillfully interpreted in the form of solid white gold Au 750/1000 diamonds on a blue lacquered background. A band of blue sapphires marks the transition between the body and the white gold-plated cone, whose shape is reminiscent of the volume and tone control knobs of an electric guitar, an instrument that played a crucial role in Queen's unique sound. The tip of the cone is inlaid with a unique insert, made from the wood of Roger Taylor's original drumsticks, finely intertwined with guitar strings that Brian May himself used. In tribute to the album Made In Heaven and to mark the 30th anniversary of its release, this edition is limited to only 30 pieces. Inspired by the album cover, the hand-crafted rhodium-plated solid gold Au 750/1000 nib represents the silhouette of Freddie Mercury in one of his most iconic and triumphant stage poses. In recognition of the important role played by each band member, their signatures adorn the front of the writing piece. A ring composed of precious blue sapphires surrounds the solid white gold Au 750/1000 cap, above which the dome bears the Montblanc emblem composed of pavé-set blue sapphires. In memory of the group's electrifying stage presence, the clip is designed to resemble a microphone stand, a simple accessory used to spectacular effect during concerts.
