This fountain pen pays tribute to Bruce Lee, the actor, born in San Francisco on November 27, 1940, the Year of the Dragon, and raised in Hong Kong between East and West. Films such as The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, and The Way of the Dragon made him a global icon, admired for his exemplary physique, philosophical depth, and screen presence. This special edition is intended for collectors, film and martial arts enthusiasts, as well as anyone wishing to give or treat themselves to an exceptional writing instrument carrying a true story.
Handcrafted by a master maki-e artisan using the ancestral urushi technique, the red lacquer cone features the seal of the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute, finely rendered in maki-e. Its Au 750/1000 (18-karat) solid gold ring, treated with black PVD, recalls the canvas of the training punching bag, whose swirling pattern inspired the design of this series. The cedar of the inlay refers to the four white cedar columns at the University of Washington, where Lee studied philosophy. The gold-toned metal clip takes the shape of a nunchaku stick, while the cap ring evokes a bamboo cane. The maki-e Montblanc emblem bears the Chinese character for “dragon,” a reference to the nickname “Little Dragon.” The hand-embossed Au 750/1000 (18-karat) solid gold nib displays the Jeet Kune Do symbol and glides smoothly across the paper, whether for correspondence or signature.
Limited to just 93 pieces, this creation brings together Japanese refinement and the legacy of a man who brought two cultures closer together. A collector's item meant to be passed down. A collector's item rich in symbolism, to be kept in a case or used every day.
