Throughout history, great artists have narrated the human experience in a universal language of form and beauty. The Montblanc Masters of Art collection honors their eternal contribution to the quest for perfection in art - a quest that Montblanc celebrates and participates in. Pierre-Auguste Renoir is one of the greatest precursors of modernism, whose sunny paintings set the tone for an entire movement: Impressionism. Respectfully acknowledging the pioneering work of this distinguished and fascinating French impressionist, Montblanc created the Masters of Art Homage to Pierre-Auguste Renoir Limited Edition 4810. As if looking over Renoir's shoulder, the edition is made of olive wood and covered in paint as if it had been picked directly from the artist's hand. Renoir himself would probably not have chosen any other wood, as he loved the old olive trees in his garden in southern France and immortalized many magnificent specimens in his paintings. Renoir captured moments of changing ambiance and transposed them onto the canvas using bright colors and swift brush strokes. This edition is distinguished by a golden clasp shaped like two brushes, like those used by Renoir to create the fine details and broader surfaces of his masterpieces. The cap is adorned with precious ultramarine blue resin surrounding the Montblanc emblem. The upper ring of the cap bears the engraving 1874, the year of the first exhibition of this new generation of artists, the Impressionists. The year 1874 thus marks the birth of Impressionism as a distinct movement. The delicate folding fan with two tassels that adorns the 750/1000 gold nib, handcrafted, is a tribute to the importance of the fan, an accessory that appears in many of Renoir's works, particularly in many of his portraits of women. In homage to Renoir's drawing talents, a sterling silver Ag 925/1000 nib is integrated into the gold-plated cone, allowing for his own sketches with the silver point.
