Throughout history, great artists have told the human experience in a universal language of form and beauty. The Montblanc Masters of Art collection honors their eternal contribution to the quest for perfection in art - a quest that Montblanc celebrates and participates in. Pierre-Auguste Renoir is one of the greatest precursors of modernism, whose sunny paintings set the tone for an entire movement: Impressionism. Respectfully acknowledging the pioneering work of this eminent French impressionist, Montblanc created the Masters of Art Tribute to Pierre-Auguste Renoir Limited Edition 8, inspired by the monumental painting The Large Bathers, a creative milestone of his 'Ingresque' period. The hand-painted lacquer on the cap and body reflects the colors chosen for this painting, while the view of the girl bathing in the foreground is chosen as the central figure of the body, in the form of a 750/1000 gold inlay hand-engraved using the scrimshaw technique. The finely crafted representation is enhanced by a complex 750/1000 gold inlay hand-engraved, resembling a vintage photo frame. To emphasize the artistic ambition and atmosphere of Renoir's Large Bathers, the richly adorned cap attributes are adorned with brilliant-cut diamond rings. In homage to Renoir's virtuosity in the nuanced use of the brush to apply paint - vigorous and sweeping movements for expansive surfaces and delicate, light touches for the contours of a face - the clip takes the form of two brushes, the tip of the flat brush seemingly still coated in blue, as if the artist has just set it aside after completing one of his masterpieces. The upper ring of the cap bears the engraving 1883, marking the beginning of Renoir's orientation towards his 'Ingresque' period. The cap is crowned with a Montblanc diamond whose contour is echoed in the engraved guilloché of its 750/1000 gold mount. In tribute to Renoir's drawing talents, a 999/1000 gold nib is integrated into the cone of this edition, allowing its owner to create their own sketches using the metal point technique. The 750/1000 gold nib, handcrafted, is adorned with a diamond and an engraved image taken from one of Renoir's last self-portraits dating from 1899.
