More than 1000 years ago, as the founder of the Carolingian Renaissance - the fusion of classical ideals with the intellectual heritage of the Germanic world - Charlemagne created the foundation of Western culture and a European identity. He was in constant and close contact with the great scholars and artists of his time, and established in his palaces the court schools where, among other things, the Carolingian minuscule evolved - the precursor to all later Western writing families.
The Mécaine edition of the Art Karl Der Grosse, Tribute to Charlemagne pays homage to this great cultural visionary of the first millennium with an equally formidable writing instrument. The body and cap of the edition 4810 are delicately wrapped in sterling silver 925. The detailed gold-plated fittings recall the Carolingian elements of the decoration of the Aachen Cathedral, where Charlemagne was crowned. In the edition 8881, the body, cap, rings, and clip are all made of solid 750 white gold and decorated with tsavorites - green garnets. The hand-worked nib, rhodium-plated in 18-carat gold, is adorned with an engraving of an early medieval pattern and the emperor's monogram.
