Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Moctezuma I Limited Edition 87 Fountain Pen
Price on request
Crowned in 1440, Moctezuma I led the Aztec empire to its peak. During his reign, which lasted nearly thirty years, he shaped the image we know today, that of an empire of extreme cultural and mythological richness.
A turquoise Aztec-style mosaic adorns the cap, while the barrel is made from special cocobolo wood sourced from Central America. The mosaic is handcrafted, so each of the 87 pieces is slightly different. It is enhanced with gold inlays featuring jade cabochons and an Aztec central motif. The gold has undergone special treatment to present a vintage appearance. The atlatl inspired the design of the cap with its notched handles. A triangular-shaped green jade crowns the spear-shaped clip, refined by the engraving of a quetzal feather, while the upper part of the clip recalls the traditional nose ornament of the Aztecs. The conical shape, with its delicate hammered finish, echoes an Aztec sacrificial knife equipped with an obsidian blade. The 18 K white gold nib, handcrafted, is adorned with fine engraving inspired by the Aztec glyph of the heart. Another glyph, engraved on the front, represents the second name of Moctezuma I: Ilhuicamina.
The Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl on the dome of the cap is embedded in an engraving of an Aztec solar disk. The four adjacent gold bands on the barrel are a special reference to the Templo Mayor, just like the limited edition of 87 pieces. This is a reference to the year 1987, during which the Templo Mayor was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
